And it all begins

Ok. Right. Hi.

So, I've been reading a lot of blogs for a while now and i just recently (like yesterday) talked myself into how cool it would be to actually write one of my own.
Now that im actually going through with it, i've been hit by a stage fright of sorts, so i figure the first thing i'll do is do one of those "50 things about me" things so that it will be easier to introduce myself to the weblog. So here goes:

1. I was born in Zimbabwe, and am the only member of my family to have been born there, including my extended family. My parents are both South African, even though my mom's parents are from mozambique. I was in zim during the Run Off One horse race elections this past weekend. DRAMA (more on that later). I am REALLY saddened by the situation there.
2. I graduated from uni in December 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts in Media Writing (minor in Public Relations). I am yet to figure out how im going to land my dream job.
3. I love Oprah, i think she is fabulous, a bit on the arrogant side, but just great.
4. I get bored very easily, and this is not a good thing. I have to be kept busy or else i will: get my tongue pierced, get three tattoos, get a nose piercing, belly piercing, also before i settled on my degree i had done a semester of Business Admin and another of accouting.
5. I currently live in Lagos Nigeria. Its a drama filled life, and there is no way to really describe what its like. Craziness/insanity/stoopidity are just a few words.
6. I am (shamefully) OBSESSED with reality tv shows. Give me "TheHills" "Laguna Beach" and all those "Made", "True Life" shows and im ridiculously happy happy happy.
7. My fave singer in the world is LIONEL RICHIE. Oh good LORD i love him.
8. Having said that, that song "Bleeding Love" by Leaona Lewis is right up there with my fave songs ever. Serious.
9. I wear size 12 (uk-38 SA) clothes, i have gained about 12 kilos in the last year, i was all emo about it until about 2 weeks ago. I just woke up on the 16th of june and thort FU*K IT, this is me then.
10. My mum died when i was 11, this year marks exactly half my life without her. Not a SINGLE day passes when i don't think about her, i will always wonder what my life would be like if she were here. No one could ever be as amazing in my eyes as she was.
11. Therefore, my dad is one of my best friends, totally awesome and funny and yet still cool and collected and inspiring enough to be a really good father.
12. Im an only child. And yes, im spoilt. Bite me Biatch.
13. I am one of the funniest people i know. I crack myself up all the damn time.
14. I have three really, really close girlfriends. We all live in diff countries and yet our love is eternal. Apart from these girls, i am not really close with any other females except my cousin). I have "friends" here in lagos but really, most of them are guys coz the females here mostly havent taken to me or i just dont understand them. I know why. However, i do have my good times with the few friends i have.
15. I love me some celebrity gossip. I read justjared.com every morning when i get to work, i have to, or else im in one of those foul moods. Also love Jezebel.com
16. I would love to be a TV presenter, and an event planner, and a freelance journo. If i think of anything else, i'll let you know.
17. I really hope no one i know finds this blog and figures out that its me.The anonymity is the most thrilling thing.
18. Due to a LOT of fu*kin idiotic people screwing around with my trust, i purposely keep people at a distance and test them before i can trust them.
19. I am obsessed with nelson mandela and my wildest dream is to meet him.
20. I smoke ciggies. One in the morning before my shower (bad i know) and one immediatley after work. If there is alcohol involved, forget it, i'll have a chain of about 3-4 at a time. bad. Ciggie of choice: Camel.
21. I love, love, love Mojitos. Karaoke. Laughing. Make Up. Shopping.
22. Im extremely compassionate and believe in treating others how i would like to be treated, too bad a lot of people dont feel that same way.
23. I dont care who you are, disrespect me and you will get a calm, soft spoken kick in the balls (or equivalant in females), its a common human courtesy to treat each other with respect.
24. I love me my Biltong (southern african delicacy of spiced up dried meat--tastes better than it sounds) hate pears (they taste like wet paper--i know this coz i've tried it), love beetroot and go mental over seafood--esp crab (haha--not the sexual ones--see, cracking myself up ryt there).
25. I dont think there is such a thing as bad style. Everyone is an individual. Although them Olsen girls (well one of them at least) seriously test my theory.
26. My fave colour is Pink, and to wear is red. The movie i've watched the most is "the devil wears prada" and the show i can watch over and over and have watched every episode is SEX AND THE CITY.
27. My step mother is also on the list of one of the funniest people i know. but i know its coz she's known me for about 6 years now..what can i say.
28. I have had 3 boyfriends, 2 of whom i would say i fell "in love" with. The Longest relationship i was in was 2 years. The shortest was 8 months and the other was short of a year by 2 days. I still know all of them and am good friends with 2 of them. I have also had a serious crush on Lionel Richie since i was about 5. People, its an addiction. As a result i feel strangley close to nicole richie.
29. I own about 30 handbags (yes i counted). And 23 pairs of shoes (excluding my step-mom's).
30. I am being guilt-tripped into staying at my job.
31. I cry very easily, whether happy or sad, i just cry. Sometimes i even need to go to the bathroom to have a quick weep and im done. Emotionally unstable? Me? Puh.
32. I am dating someone now (i'll call him HIGH FLYER-H.F), its been about 3 months. We met through a co-worker of his. He's 6f3" (and i'm 5.5), 29 and has the most stupid sense of style. I have to say that i dont particularly like him or miss him or think about him when we're apart, but when we're together we just click and conversation is ridiculousy fun and endearing and he is really good to me (compared to previous lagos dick heads). What does this mean? And the time has just flown by.
33. I have lived in South africa (8 years total), tanzania (18 months), kenya (2 years), Ghana(6 months), Zimbabwe (5 years total), and Australia (4 1/2 years). I think my life rocks.
34. Im running out of things to say now.
35. Apart from my love for Lionel, i enjoy any type of music. Nickelback are awesome though arent they?
36. I am an AMAZING cook, seriously, ask anyone. I enjoy cooking for other people. Not so much for myself, its really awesome when people are surprised by my cooking. My specialty is my vegetable lasagne.
37. I speak fluent spanish.
38. I often make spur of the moment decisions to do random things coz i know life is too short. Like now, i've decided to move to ghana.
39. My fave feature on me is my legs. On others, it would have to be smile. I get really creeped out by moles.
40. I am terrified of the dark and when i was 11, a family friend made a night lamp for me in the shape of a star that i still have. Weird. I am also horrifically terrified of lightning and snakes. I cant even say which is worse.
41. Let me tell u what really irritates me: arrogance, judgement, people who assume they know all about me without actually asking, and especially if you ask me to do something, and then coninuously bug me asking me "have u done this"---this will result in me NOT doing it, or shitting on it as i do it. Seriously, im not a retard, i heard u the first time and if i dont understand what u want i will ask u asshole. (random rant about co workers).
42. I always make up nicknames for people. People always get irritated.
43. I heart watching and playing tennis, soccer (arsenal fan woot woot), golf (do not even ask how/why) and swimming.
44. I really really want a dog, i had one but when we moved from south africa we had to give her to my cousins (her name was brownie-she was brown, i was 7). I have a cat now, her name is geneva, she is the queen of her universe and an absolute hoot.
45. I've never been to the United States of America. Not Dying to go either.
46. I am however dying to go to the Bahamas, Cuba, and Spain.
47. My fave smell is Vanilla. Therefore my room smells like it. I also love eating strawberries and am addicted to asking (and taking very seriously) my eight ball all the questions that come to mind.
48. I thrive in situations where i dont know anyone, im completely in my element when i have to socialise and meet new people and hear thier stories-hence the tv host dream.
49. I more of a savoury person than a sweet person.
50. Love flying in planes. Something about being all the way up there, sort of risky yet completely comfy and surrounded by strangers in such an enclosed, controlled space. I also love being at airports, its the best place to people watch.
51. Just coz i want to number 51: im completely and optmimist. Im that annoying glass half full girl. Its gotten me through a LOT...

Well, that's a lot about me.

There is so much more to write and i will try and post as often as possible. The most intruiging thing about this whole blog world is that you never know who (of at all) is reading your blog. LOVE IT.
